Survivor: South Off-shoreline Champion Sophie Clarke: "I'm Trying to become Little Sunnier"

Sophie Clarke, Rob Probst If anybody knows the value of an immunity challenge it will have to be Sophie Clarke. One of the final participants left on Survivor: South Off-shoreline, the 22-year-old medical student from Willsboro, NY, wasn't any leader. But after winning the ultimate immunity challenge of the year and ousting fan favorite and Survivor veteran Oscar "Ozzy" Lusth within the very last minute, the sport was out of the blue Clarke's to win. We taken track of Clarke soon after she outshine Benjamin "Coach" Wade and baseball coach Albert Destrade for your grand prize of $millions of to uncover what she was thought her probability of winning were following a final tribal council, how a show changed her existence and why she'd return to Survivor in the heartbeat.TV Guide Magazine: How perhaps you have feel beginning the finale?Clarke: I used to be so nervous. I used to be watching the show backstage which i started crying watching myself cry. I believed I'd break lower.TV Guide Magazine: Perhaps you have think you'd win?Clarke: I'd liberating. You never know, right? You never know if within the very last minute these individuals that you're acquiring a great continue reading through write lower Albert's title, or something like that like this. So, I felt like I'd win, however it might be a detailed election.TV Guide Magazine: That last tribal council was kind of gnarly. Clarke: I don't think you saw all the gnarl that was there! Everyone was lighting into everyone. In my opinion really the only comfort... well, there has been a few things that have been comforting. One was that Coach was configuring it much worse than I used to be. Albert was configuring it much worse than us. Which I'd champagne throughout my water bottle within the breakfast, to make sure that was soothing my nerves too.Television Guide Magazine: Your personality received plenty of scrutiny throughout the summer season. Whoever else remove everything critique?Clarke: I've always considered my confidence to become characteristic, and that i have always kind of been pleased with how blunt I used to be. I merely felt appreciate it was me. I have not changed that however i am just more conscious of how it's removed to people initially. I'm more alert to my first impressions. I'm trying to become little a great deal a lot more like Beginning [Meehan], somewhat sunnier.TV Guide Magazine: There made an appearance being no love lost between you together with a couple of from the other participants around the program, however everyone appear chummy again. Clarke: It's a game title title, and part of my game only decided to be to become hard-ass and sightseeing and remaining the course and being serious and calm. I didn't desire to align while using Savaii [tribe]. I didn't wish to be pals together. I desired them out. It is therefore different in the sport and from the sport. Also, I really felt like I, greater than anybody, had my personality removed of me because of the [inadequate] food. I didn't appear like myself available. I'm frequently a really funny, pleased person, which i felt the whole time like I used to be Mrs. Potato Mind - expressionless. It absolutely was really awful.TV Guide Magazine: What went lower?Clarke: I had been depriving. Physically I looked different, I lost a great deal weight. But psychologically, it's overwhelming.TV Guide Magazine: I've learned you're feeling feelings as if you haven't felt before?Clarke: Oh, exactly! I used to be telling Beginning, I'm afraid that i'm not likely to feel such extreme feelings again throughout my existence. I required part within this charitable organization event, fasting for just about any day for health clinic, which i'm excited due to it because I believed, maybe with the finish throughout your day I'll have a similar kind of pleasure about eating a blueberry that we felt round the island. As well as, I didn't. You may never recapture it. In my opinion this is why every one of these Children keep coming back. Once we were available we thought they were crazy. That is sadistic! Why are you able to ever do for you again? Now I recognize. It's the feelings. I am unable to describe them and so they can't encounter on tv. Watching the show and standing on this program are two different encounters. It's existence-changing.TV Guide Magazine: You stated that on tv. What is the finest change?Clarke: In my opinion you're in the weakest, you're at most vulnerable. You figure all of this out in regards to you skill physically and psychologically - what you might handle. It gives you a great deal confidence within your everyday existence. It's tough to convey other activities can be a challenge.TV Guide Magazine: Are you able to do Survivor again?Clarke: I'd check it out again in the heartbeat. It might seem so absurd to convey. I have nothing to prove, it's a little more about recapturing the emotions and meeting a whole quantity of new people.TV Guide Magazine: Exactly what are you going associated with $millions of?Clarke: I'm in med school at this time around, so I have got a lot of financial financial loans. Well, I'm not likely to possess a lot of financial financial loans. It will help reduce my ideas a good deal.Indication as much as TV Guide Magazine now!

David Fincher on 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'

David Fincher on 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'David Fincher started shooting "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" 25 days after turning in "The Social Network." That kind of accelerated schedule would be taxing even in the best circumstances, much less with the challenges Fincher and his crew faced in getting the big-budget adaptation of Stieg Larsson's blockbuster crime novel off the ground."It was difficult to have such a rushed prep, and then work in a foreign country," Fincher says in an email exchange with Variety. "Sweden was patient with us and melding the two filmmaking worlds together. Weather was a challenge, more so the lack of daylight or the lack of darkness and trying to schedule around it."And then there was the material itself. Fincher, of course, is no stranger to dark themes, having explored humanity's baser instincts in such movies as "Seven," "Fight Club" and "Zodiac." He says his attraction to "Dragon Tattoo" had less to do with the book's more lurid aspects than with the "idea of sexual politics between men and women.""I was interested in making a movie for adults," Fincher says. "The book is for adults and I liked that the studio was interested in keeping it that way."Fincher was also determined to preserve the edginess of the novel's heroine, Lisbeth Salander, and not have her become, in his words, too "bitchin'." The revenge aspect of the material presented this trap, Fincher believes, and he and actress Rooney Mara strove to avoid having Salander, whom the late Larsson described as a grown-up twist on Sweden's famous Pippi Longstocking heroine, turn into a vengeful cartoon character hell-bent on settling an old score."We did not want her to stand out," Fincher says. "She needed to disappear. And, if seen, everything about her says, 'Fuck off.'"EYE ON THE OSCARS: THE DIRECTOR Helmers hot to globe trotWoody Allen | Stephen Daldry | David Fincher | Michel Hazanavicius | Terrence Malick | Bennett Miller | Alexander Payne | Jason Reitman | Martin Scorsese | Steven SpielbergIn the Mix Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com

Ryan Seacrest as Potential Matt Lauer 'Today' Alternative: Exactly what the Media Says

Chuck star Zachary Levi may be the latest celebrity to host Spike TV's Gaming Honours show, which is broadcast survive December 10 at 8pm ET from La. Levi, who's finishing the ultimate season of Chuck, follows within the actions of famous players like Jack Black and Samuel L. Jackson as host from the event.our editor recommends'Chuck' Star Zachary Levi to Host Spike TV's Gaming Honours (Exclusive)'Chuck's' Vik Sahay Systems on Lester: 'Don't Determine If I'll Ever Have the Same Singing Again' Mark Burnett (Survivor), executive producer of the year's ceremony, arrived at to Levi to create a players' sensibility towards the show. The actor discusses the emergence of game titles being an talent and the way forward for interactive entertainment within this exclusive interview. PHOTOS: 10 Broadcast and Cable Television Show Most Viewed By Males The Hollywood Reporter: Why did you choose to host the 2011 VGAs? Zachary Levi: I wish to pay homage and tribute to any or all the designers and gaming firms that have ongoing to mold my very own existence and my entertainment. THR: What role will celebs participate in the VGAs this season? Levi: Personally, i don't would like it to be an honours show where it's nearly putting celebs inside for celebrities' sake. I am wishing the celebs which i get are those who have some type of legitimate love or participation on the planet of gaming, when i do. That's a minimum of where I get up on it. "It may ultimately possess a resonance along with a weight that a few of the various other, I guess, exclusive honours shows have finally.Inch THR: Would you believe the VGAs will ultimately become for games exactly what the Oscars or Emmys are for film and tv? Levi: In my opinion when the VGAs continue doing right through the gaming community, be in keeping with it, focus on players, and also have that awesome, fun, atmosphere, but respect for that genre itself, they will just still gain respect being an honours show. It may ultimately possess a resonance along with a weight that a few of the various other, I guess, exclusive honours shows have finally. THR: How can you begin to see the VGAs evaluating with other honours shows you have been associated with? Levi: A variety of it is simply patting one another around the back, regardless of the market is, be it the Emmys, the Academy awards, or even the Gaming Honours. I believe probably the most essential things is the fact that it's entertaining, fun, and pays tribute to individuals which have been ongoing to guide the charge in whatever that medium is. THR: How perhaps you have seen the significance of story evolve in gaming today? Levi: Getting an excellent narrative is essential because games have become many a lot more like these interactive movies that you simply spend lots of your time and effort with. I believe the Uncharted games did an amazing job at this. The men at Naughty Dog have just ongoing to create a fantastic title. Clearly, Infinity Ward and Treyarch are constantly returning and forth and getting us an enjoyable experience within their first-person world with Cod games. And Bethesda (Softworks) is constantly on the in the ante using the Elder Scrolls games like Oblivion and also the new Skyrim. THR: Since you are overall Chuck, what's next for you personally? Levi: As someone who works in entertainment and it is an enthusiastic gamer, I've got a large amount of ideas. I actually want to begin to make and bridging the space between gaming entertainment and live action entertainment. I wish to begin to make interactive shows where you are watching stars like myself portray figures that, after we get into fight, you may be motivated either to opt-out or opt-directly into manipulating the results of that fight...similar to a choose your adventure. This is where I begin to see the future going. The greater interactive you may make entertainment, as well as providing people with options of passive or active entertainment, the greater. I really like what Kinect does. You do not need a handheld remote control any longer. You may either voice command or wave your hands around and have the ability to make use of whenever and wherever you would like. It's fascinating. THR: Players happen to be streaming content in record amounts online. How can you observe that affecting the way forward for television? Levi: For a long time now, my philosophy continues to be that the television are only a thing for the monitor. It will not be considered a service, always, any longer. Everything will you need to be blocked in, as you are likely to be streaming everything. It is going to open and extremely broaden the field of entertainment for independent entertainment producers to have the ability to basically make whatever they would like to make then sell it straight to their group of followers, which will probably be incredible. If they are making something that's good, people will find it watching it. THR: Exactly what does this suggest for that current prime time television model? Levi: Television will persist within the model that people view it, but increasingly more it is much more about sporting occasions and reality competitions stuff that individuals have to look at live. Being an marketer, increasing numbers of people are DVRing their programming or watching it on the internet, you are not receiving your hard earned money from the advertisement investment, so it is going to alter the model drastically.
